We had some strong winds over the last few days which resulted in a lot of wind fall apples.
Yesterday evening I saw this young hare feasting on the bounty.I was not aware that they were partial to apples, but as the following photos show, they are.!!
Then there were two
Joined by a third
Then there were four, then five ,but he jumped out of the frame as I took the photo.!!!
They were feasting for about an hour, then they were acting strange, jumping all over the place, chasing each other, looking distinctly drunk.I do not know if they were drunk, but the apples were going rotten so would have been full of fermented juice, but they were showing strange behavior.
The only other things I have managed to photograph this week are creatures from the lake.
A white thistle, that I have never seen before.
A normal thistle with bee.
A rare shot of a butterfly,I say rare only because we have had no butterflies this year. Two bad winters and a dreadful summer has wiped them out.
Thats all for this week, enjoy your weekend and those of you on the East coast of America, please stay safe safe from the hurricane.
WELCOME TO VIEWS FROM THE CASTLE.
My views of my life, photographs, ramblings and nostalgia for what has past and my hopes for tomorrow.Plus anything I think might interest others.

VICTORIAN TEA BELLS
As promised,a peek of the collection my mother gave me to bring back from England.Mother had collected these bells for many years, most of them are genuine Victorian bells,a few are modern reproductions but it is easy to spot the fakes as the metal is inferior and they are much lighter, the detail is not so good and some of them are deliberately aged in an attempt to pass them off as genuine, but they make a fine collection all the same.
I will have to have a shelf put up to display them,a strong shelf as they weigh a ton.
I was looking on Ebay to see what they sell for (not that I am selling them ) just to get an idea of the value.I was amazed to see several that I have are selling for over $200,others that I have average out at about $100 and $50,the collection consists of 50 genuine bells and 20 repro's and a couple of fakes,so I guess I have a collection worth quite a bit.
These are the best of the bunch, this photo does not do them justice,I should have taken them in small groups as you can not pick out the rarer ones.Photo will enlarge if you click on it.
The next photo is a brochure from a foot spa,my sister treated me to. Have you ever had your feet nibbled by fish.?? It is an amazing experience, believe me.It was bizarre, but very relaxing and my feet were so soft after the fish had removed all the dead skin cells. I know it sounds gross, but that is what these fish feed on,in the wild, they clean other fish and they will love your feet,if you have one of these spas in your area give it a go,I promise you will want to go again.
Enlarge the photo to read.
Next a photo of the Neptune fountain in Cheltenham Spa, England,I love this fountain, the horses are lovely, the whole fountain is very pretty.
Pigeons having a rest next to the fountain.
The next two are the sun set last night, it made a very dramatic skyline.
Hope you have all had a good week so far, take care every one.
Carolyn.

GLAD TO BE BACK
It is so good to be back home in Ireland away from all the traffic and noise in England. I have to say the weather in England was wonderful, the sun shone every day and we could sit in the garden till the sun went down without getting eaten by midges.
I went away to look after my mother,so that my sister could go on holiday.Mum lives with my sister and could not be left to fend for herself any more.Mum used to come to Ireland to stay with me for a month or so in the summers, but sadly she is now unable to travel,so I had to go to her instead.
It was lovely talking to her about the old days and my childhood. We did a lot of talking,we did not go on many trips as she would not have coped with traveling.I did manage to take her to see her big sister who is now in her 90's,her last surviving sibling, that pleased her a lot.
Mum had been going through her belongings and she gave me things that had been left to me in her will,as I had the car,she thought she would give them to me now to take home with me. I will take a picture of my favorite heirloom, when I have unpacked it and cleaned it and show you in my next post.
I did not take many photos,so the only ones I have are our arrival and departure at the ferry ports in Ireland and Pembroke .
Leaving Ireland
About to board the ferry.I hate having to drive up the steep ramps inside the ferry so my Daughter did this leg of the journey.!!
Sunset on the way to my sisters house,we arrived very late as we were stuck in a massive traffic holdup on the motorway.
Waiting to board the ferry on the way home in Pembroke.
Last of all a photo that was taken well over 20yrs ago.Mum found it and gave it to me,I do not remember where it was taken ,I do not even remember it being taken.!! On the left is my eldest daughter, then me,my youngest daughter and last my mother.I am amazed how much I look like her now.!!!
Will be catching up with you all soon.

BYE FOR NOW.
Dear all, I will be away for about a month as I am going to England to look after my mother.
I will catch up with you all when I get back,in the meantime I hope you enjoy the rest of the summer, that is,those of you who actually have any summer, those of you who do not, then I hope you do get some decent weather soon.
I leave you with something to make you smile, though it might be to your advantage if you understand the Irish accent.!!
Carolyn.
